Astrological Forecast for June 2009

by Armand Diaz

If you’ve been waiting to move forward, wait no longer. This June we have unusually harmonious skies, peppered with just enough in the way of "hard" aspects to keep us motivated. As always, I have to point out that our individual charts may wind up getting hit very differently, and no doubt we won’t have a month of continuous harmony down here on the ground. But the astrology is very favorable, which should help soften even tough times if they come.

We begin June still reeling from the double stations of Mercury and Neptune on the last days of May, so it would be best to put off decisions and purchases for a few days. Relationship and financial opportunities may present themselves early in the month, however, as Venus makes nice aspects to Neptune and Jupiter on the 2nd. Mars and Pluto, two of the more difficult characters in the cosmic drama, make a harmonious aspect on the 4th, which can help us to direct energy into productive action.

The 5th has one of the month’s tenser aspects, a square between the Sun and Saturn. On an inner level, ego and super-ego conflict, while out in the world we can feel the constraints of authority restricting our ability to be ourselves. However it manifests, neither side is really stronger now, and the conflict could go either way. Venus moves into Taurus on the 6th, ending an extended stay in Aries. Our collective social outlook mellows out a bit, as we can appreciate things in themselves, without so much focus on what’s in it for us as individuals.

June’s Full Moon, on the 7th, is in the sign of Sagittarius. Full Moons are always an active time of the month, and Sag loves a good party. Saturday night’s energy should be much more fun than Friday’s this weekend, and Sunday has a lot of promise. An easy aspect between Venus and Pluto on the 8th will further relationships, and what began on the high of the weekend can continue into the new week. On the other hand, if you want to let go of something, or someone, it should be easier now.

The 9th and 10th have a bit of tension and confusion about them as Mercury makes a series of aspects. Innovative, bright ideas which stretch the imagination may come sailing into our consciousness, but good judgment may go out the window. Journal your ideas and dreams, but wait a few days before you commit to any action.

Jupiter stations to retrograde on the 15th. While not as tense as other stations, when Jupiter puts on the brakes we our faith and optimism are tested as we have to put things on hold for just a bit. That the Last Quarter Moon happens on the same day will add a little extra spark to this day when it really is time to stop, but feels so much like it’s time to go.

The Sun is busy making aspects on the 17th, a mixed bag of meet-ups with outer planets. There is just enough tension to make for some irritable moments, but otherwise this is a constructive time, and perhaps an opportunity to put into action those ideas from the 9th and 10th that still sound good a week later.

On June 21st at 1:45 a.m. EDT, the Sun moves into Cancer, beginning sum-mer in the Northern Hemisphere. The long climb which began late last December reaches it’s peak, and the sun spends as much time as he ever does above the horizon. The irony is that just as summer really begins, the Sun begins his descent and the days grow shorter. Perhaps there is a cosmic lesson in there for us.

We may or may not be in the mood for lessons as Mars, Venus and Saturn make aspects with each other on the 21st and 22nd. Those who planned their June weddings for this weekend should benefit, as Saturn’s easy aspects to Mars and Venus should lend strength and support to relation-ships. For those of us not tying the not, the relationship energy is also very good, as Venusian appreciation and Martian pass-ion unite. The moon is moving towards it’s new phase, and this is a quieter time of the month, more given to reflection than action. What-ever relationship moves we make are probably going to feel inevitable, as though we knew all along what would happen. By the way, financial and art-istic endeavors can also get a boost at this time, and matters which were up in the air in late April can finally be resolved now.

The end of the month is a little less harmonious. On the 23rd, the Sun op-poses Pluto, and power struggles of all kinds can emerge. In the signs of Cancer and Capricorn, both sides are likely to feel they are right, and compro-mise is not likely to be the first option. On the 26th, Mercury and Saturn square off, creating tense and maybe terse com-munications. It isn’t a great day to go asking for favors, but Mercury is in his home sign so things should work out in the end. The First Quarter Moon is on the 29th, always a time of action. In sociable Libra, this phase of the Moon should favor social interactions of all kinds.

We began the month in the shadow of retrogrades, and we end it in the same way, although this time the shadow is in front of us. Uranus will station to retro-grade in the early hours of July 1st. I’ll have more to say about that next month, but we will probably be feeling the edgi-ness and irritability of this station from the 29th onwards. Uranus stations tend to put us all on a short fuse, and patience isn’t a priority. If we’re lucky, impul-sive Uranus will inspire us to become who we really are and to break free of outdated constraints.

June won’t be all warm breezes and easy times, of course. But the cosmic weather is giving us an opportunity to take a step back from the storm of the past few months. In that space, we can begin to move in the direction we want to go.
