A Crystal Heart

by Skye Stephenson, PhD

This is my first e-article in Wisdom Magazine and I plan to write monthly about some aspect for rock and crystal healing. As a beginning, I would like to share with you how I first became interested in rock and crystal healing. It was four years ago this month when my life was irrevocably changed by two small pieces of jade.

They were pieces of spirit jade, given to me by my spirit guide. The truth is that I wasn’t doing very well. A man I thought I loved had just left me, after informing me that he was “off to search for the love of his life” which he had yet to find. He made it clear that it wasn’t me!

That first Sunday morning in September, I meditated searching for an answer to “why I seemed to keep having bad luck with affairs with the heart.” And as so often happens when we are in pain, I opened up more completely to spirit than usual. And something very unusual happened. When my guide came towards me, I could tell that he was holding something in his two hands. His fists were closed. I waited with anticipation, wondering what he had for me that memorable morning.

When he opened them, I saw nestled in each palm a small green piece of what I knew was jade. But it was a color green the likes of which I’d never seen before. It was so pure, I wondered if that color could exist on Earth. And the two pieces were identical. They almost looked like twins - that is, if a stone or rock could have a twin.

I looked at them, and my first thought was what in the world does this have to do with me. Why was I being shown jade when I was feeling so bad? Didn’t my guide care that my heart was broken? But he didn’t seem to focus on that at all. What he did do was give me my first lesson in rock and crystal healing. Please keep in mind that I am not a healer of any type by profession and until that day I had never had anything to do with rocks and crystals besides appreciating their beauty.

He told me two things. The first was that healing was so important to the universe because it literally helps to forward evolution through “re-creating” energy patterns. The second was that some rocks actually have gender or, better put, some rocks can be either yin or yang. Knowing this is helpful in doing crystal healing, because yin rocks should be treated and used differently than yang rocks for greatest effect. And the green jade, he informed me, was yin.

So began my totally unexpected first steps into channeling and crystal healing. In the course of the next month, I received nearly daily downloads of information, which I tried to capture as accurately as I could. Sometimes I felt as if my hand could not keep up with all the material that was pouring through me. When the body of material I received became coherent and clear, I was told that I should wait from three to five years to launch this information. And in the meantime, there were things I needed to do to prepare.

Last month, I helped lead a spiritual journey to sacred sites in the Yucatan with a group of people from Mexico and the United States. For a week we meditated and did ceremonies. On the day of universal pardon, the day known by some Mayan as “between time”, we were at the pyramid of Ek Balam. Ketta, one of the group leaders, was cleaning us with copal prior to the start of the ceremony. When it was my turn, she passed the copal over my heart and the flame went very high, and then it went out. She looked surprised, and told me to go to the back of the line and try again. On the second try, the copal flamed high again but this time it stayed bright. She whispered in my ear “Remember that the most important crystal of all is our heart.”

I felt as if I’d come full circle – from a broken heart to a crystal heart. And I took it as a sign that the time had arrived to launch the crystal material. I call it LECORA™.

Let me end this short article with a suggestion. I encourage you to take a moment to pick up a pebble you see along your path or find a favorite rock you have saved from a trip or grab a special crystal that makes you feel good. Whatever member of the stone family you choose, hold it in your hand with gratitude and respect. Think of all the support and assistance the stone family gives to you. We would not be able to live without them. Take those feelings and send them from your crystal heart to it. Give it a heart-felt thanks. You may want to use the following LECORA™ prayer.

The LECORA™ prayer

Mother/father rock (or crystal),

I hold you in my hand

As a child holding its mother/father

For I recognize that you are older and wiser than I

And you carry the knowledge of the times

Locked in your structure.

Please allow me to access your wisdom,

Let me taste your power,

Let me smell your presence,

Let me touch your soul.

With my simple human fingers

With my spotted human soul.

Release to me what you will

Release to me what you can,

I ask you with love in my heart and light in my soul. ©
