Intuition: Your Divine Direction to Success

by Lynn A. Robinson, M.Ed.

Intuition is a ready source of direction — a compass of the soul — available to all of us. It is an invisible intelligence that animates our world and provides wisdom to guide our lives. When we follow its wisdom it invariably leads us to success, happiness, peace and joy.

Fortunately, we all have the ability to tap into this power. We are all capable of developing it for practical use in everyday life as well as for discovering and achieving life goals. Many people think of it as the domain of a gifted few, even though intuition is now recognized not as a rare, accidental talent, but as a natural skill that most of us can cultivate.

Living an intuitive life is much more than simply paying attention to your intuition. It includes looking within for the answers; living life with courage, faith, patience and trust. It also involves connecting with your Spirit through daily practice and taking action on the wisdom you receive.

Following are some suggestions for finding "Divine Moments" to connect with the sacred in your daily life.

Morning Blessings

Before you open your eyes in the morning, envision the day to come. Pray that you speak, think, and act with love and wisdom throughout the day. Use the power of your imagination to send loving thoughts to people and situations who may need that kindness.

Take a Nature Break

Take a few moments to step outside, rain-or-shine, and go for a short walk. You may see an unusual cloud formation, a resilient weed pressing up through the pavement, feel inspired by the birds soaring in the sky, hear a child's laugh, or be especially appreciative of the clean air you breathe. Pay special attention to the natural beauty and abundance that God has created all around you.

Wage “Road Peace”

Many of us have experienced an episode of road rage directed at us. However, most people don't behave in a raging and abusive manner if all is well in their lives. The book, “The Course in Miracles” makes a statement, "Today I will see all anger as a request for love." Imagine sending love to the harried driver who cut you off on your way to work. See him or her as needing your compassion rather than retaliation.

Experience a Gratitude Pause

We spend much of our lives waiting, whether it's in line at the grocery store, standing in the elevator as we go to the office, or in the car in a traffic jam. When you find yourself with a few moments on your hands think silent thoughts of gratitude for all that you have.

Bestow Angel Blessings

You probably know someone at your office or in your neighborhood who is down on their luck. Perhaps they've been experiencing ill health, are caring for a sick family member, or have experienced a recent financial crisis. What could you provide that would be helpful to this person? Giving doesn't need to cost money. You could shovel a driveway, rake leaves, provide a meal, offer to baby-sit, drive them to an appointment, shop for their groceries, or simply offer a listening ear.

Practice Checkbook Faith

Paying bills each month creates anxiety for many people. Use it as an opportunity to build your faith by making a donation to someone less fortunate. Here's an affirmation to bring to mind as you write the check, "I freely give knowing that as I do I am opening myself to God's rich abundance." There is a spiritual cycle of giving and receiving. As you freely give, you open yourself to receive.

Take an Intuition Interlude

Next time you find yourself fraught with anxiety, check in with your Divine guidance. Get in the habit of asking questions of your intuition and expecting a reply. You might ask, "What could I do to feel calmer about the meeting this afternoon?" In response, you get an image of a quiet lunch in the park by your office coming to mind. That is one of the ways your intuition responds - through images. Your intuition is connected to a higher wisdom that always knows what you need. It will always lead you to peace, love, forgiveness, gratitude and faith.
