Divine Wisdom From Michele Livingston

by Michele Livingston

Dear Michele,

I have a question that maybe others have experienced as well. Sometimes when I mediate my body will start to gently rock, sometimes it is from right to left; other times it may go in a circular motion. The first time this happened it really scared me and I immediately opened my eyes. But now it seems to be more routine and I don’t know what it means. Can you please explain?

Thanks, Janie

Hi Janie,

First it’s wonderful that you are meditating! As you know, meditation is nothing more than stilling the mind. When all thoughts leave and you focus on one thing, like a rose, a landscape of the ocean or a positive word like love, you are being in the moment. Each individual has thousands of thoughts each day, which at times intrude on their well-being. Negative thinking can produce stress, high blood pressure and illness. It is good to meditate for at least 30 minutes each day. The heart rate and pulse slows down and a new, inner peace is achieved. This practice is a discipline that helps you simplify and focus, allowing many revelations to come through for your highest good. It is not just an Eastern philosophy, but is beneficial for everyone. Meditation brings one closer to the heartbeat or energy of God. God is peace, and is a source of consistent, creative focused energy. The soul communes with the Creator through this practice. "Peace, be still" was said to encourage humanity to still the mind at intervals and go within. To obtain true peace, which is always within, the body, mind and spirit must be still and rest. It is important for each individual to find his or her own connection to the universal energy of the Godhead. So I encourage you to stop, reflect and meditate daily. While you are engaged in this process, repeat softly to yourself, "peace, be still and know that I am God."

In your case, Janie, you are moving to your own soul rhythm. The soul is within your body and when the mind is still you are connecting with the essence of who you are. Each individual soul vibrates with a sound and color. This is a relaxing gesture that you are unconsciously doing to calm down. You are "dancing" to your own soul’s rhythm, and it is good. You are tapping deeply into the spiritual side of yourself, and maybe will start to hear your soul’s sound (or song) and see a predominant color. When this happens, you are completely one with self and the Higher Power who created you. Many times the soul temporarily leaves the body during meditation, which can cause a rocking motion. It is nothing to worry about, but be sure you ground yourself before starting.

To ground yourself, before meditation, sit in your chair with a straight spine. Take a few deep breaths and visualize a cord of light tied to your coccyx (at the base of the spine). See that light traveling down to the center of the earth and anchor it. Make sure your feet are flat on the floor and visualize two more bands or cords of light coming out from the bottoms of your feet and moving down to the core of the earth. Start to anchor your energy, as you see yourself grounded and firmly planted in your body.

So Janie, I encourage you to keep meditating daily to receive spiritual information which will enrich your soul journey.

Dear Michele,

My wife, Karen died about a year ago and since then it seems strange things have been happening in our home. Like I’ll smell her perfume in the air and sometimes her picture on the bedroom dresser is moved. What do you think is going on? I hope you can help me.

Brian C.

Dear Brian,

It seems from my perspective your departed wife is definitely connecting with you. In my book, Miraculous Encounters, I talk about the numerous ways the other side can communicate. For example, the most common way that a soul communicates is through dreams. When we dream of someone who is passed on, our soul has left our body and is communicating with their soul in the fourth dimension. It’s important to keep a pad and pen by the bed to write down "impressions" that we have received from them. Most times the messages are simple phrases or even a single sentence. Another way is through apparitions. This is when a deceased loved one "appears" to us here in the third dimension by lowering their frequency so we can see them. This process is called clairvoyance – clear seeing.

Since the soul is electromagnetic energy, it can literally go through the electrical wires! Examples are: lights flickering or going on and off, appliances or TV’s starting or stopping by themselves, ceiling fans clicking and reversing and of course the phone rings – but no one is on the other end.

Also watch for objects being moved around the house – you swear that you put your car keys on your nightstand and the next morning you find them downstairs on the kitchen counter! Another way is finding "pennies from Heaven" and coins in unusual places. Or you’re driving in the car or shopping in the mall and you hear your dad’s favorite song, "My Way", by Frank Sinatra being played over and over – your dad’s saying "hello". You think of your mother and feel "warmth" or "chills" all over your body. Be aware of your feelings when thinking of a passed loved one. This type of communication is called clairsentience – the ability to feel the spirit realms.

One of the most difficult ways for departed souls to communicate is through smells or scents – your deceased grandpa’s pipe tobacco fills the air, you smell your grandmother’s lavender soap. Or you may smell freshly brewed coffee when no one in the house drinks it, or the smell of lilacs or roses, or in your case, Brian, your wife’s perfume.

Our loved ones can also send us messengers to get our attention in the forms of butterflies, dragonflies, birds, other wild animals or even cats and dogs. And the list goes on. The important thing to remember is "awareness is the key." These so-called coincidences are not your imagination. These occurrences are a very direct way of your loved ones proving their existence after death and just popping in to let you know they still love you!
