Feeling Lost & Learning to Free Yourself

by Summer

We all have those times in our life where we just feel lost, not sure in what direction to take in life. This could be in time of stress, when we have a lot on our plate that needs to be completed and we get lost in the “doing” of stuff. You forget about taking time to be with yourselves, to take the time to connect, and become grounded in what your true reality is.

Sometimes you have a decision to make and just could not find the energy to make that decision. It could be because it could lead to a life-changing event that you are still uncertain about. It could be because you just could not wrap your thoughts around what you need to do to make that decision. Sometimes it is just simply overwhelming, because you have allowed life to become overwhelming and you get lost in your own life.

Your life starts to make demands of you and you become so over taken by life itself and the demands that you have placed on yourself for the day-to-day obligations, you tend to get lost and over time, you become lost. Lost in a life that no longer belongs to you, a life that belongs to many others. Others that get your time, your commitments and your attention and you forget about You.

When you forget about yourself, you become lost; lost in who you truly are and your purpose. The feeling of being lost can come in waves and it moves you from time-to-time, but you become use to the waves and you learn to ignore them and continue to move through your daily lives like a machine doing for everyone else (except you). Then silently in the background, the storm begins to move. The waves get a little stronger and more powerful. The wind picks up and you begin to feel more and more overwhelmed, stressed and that you are losing complete control of your life!! You are now in the middle of a crisis and you are looking for a place to run for shelter!!

STOP and simply breath…..you do not have to run for shelter….you just have to learn to let go and allow. Learn to make you, your health, and your life a priority. Know you do not have to be in control of everything that your life touches. Easier said than done, I am sure you are thinking, but it truly does not have to be.

To start just take a few moments each day to connect with a source that is bigger than you are. (This could be what you call God, the Universe a Divine Source, whatever it is for you.) Stop and listen to your breath and be with your breath for 2-5 minutes a day. This will bring about a big change in your daily life of stress. Take time to get outside in nature and sit. Sit and observe all the amazing life around you. Observe the sounds and colors of your world and what is brought to you in nature. It could be a butterfly floating near by, a bird singing in the trees, or a small animal in the near distance that catches your eye. When you slow down, you will notice how different things appear when you take time to observe the beauty in it all.

When you are feeling lost, take time out. Whatever that may mean for you. Do not rush yourself to make decisions. If you do have a decision that needs to be made and you feel overwhelmed, just pause. Take the time to connect through meditation, journal writing or becoming still and listening to what your higher source has to tell you. If you do not get an answer, that is okay. It could simply mean that you do not have to make a decision at this time. There has been many times that I just simply did nothing, when I could not make a decision. Most of the time, everything worked itself out just fine and probably better than if I had done something. You do not always have to make that decision; sometimes the situation can work itself out without you doing anything.

Learning to let go and simply allow is a wonderful thing. Allowing actually allows you more time for yourself. Allows you to tell others no and maintain health boundaries in your day-to-day activities. Allow yourself the permission to let go and not be caught up in decision-making, not be in control and to breath and allow yourself to trust. Trust that your higher source is going to take care of you, trust that they have your back and you are going to be okay, no matter what the outcome may bring.

I promise you that your life will become simpler. Tasks will become easier to manage. Decisions will come easier. Your stress will reduce if not be completely gone and you will learn to live again. You will learn to live for you and not everyone else in your life. You will understand the importance of taking time for you and making your own life a priority.

You will inhabit a new feeling of freedom of spirit and soul. You will discover a new you and be open to learn what your purpose is and how to live it. Follow your dreams and make you count!!!
