Dada Vaswani Appearing in New York

In the heart of New York City, surrounded by the hustle and bustle of Times Square there are over 1,250 people gathered in the historic Town Hall basking in a silence, a stillness, a peacefulness so powerful and potent that one wonders what is happening. Many stayed glued to their seats in awe of the man who had transformed one of the busiest place on earth into one of the most tranquil, while others quietly made their way out holding onto the stillness that had infiltrated their innermost being. On May 13, 2008, you too can experience this tranquility as Dada returns to the Town Hall for his annual visit. It is a rare opportunity and one that many New Yorkers and Tri-state residents cannot afford to miss!

Dada J.P. Vaswani is a messenger of love, service and compassion who has captivated the hearts of millions around the world with his twinkling eyes and contagious smile. Dada is regarded as one of the leading spiritual luminaries of India, a practical philosopher and a man of God whose grace influences all those he meets. He is a powerful orator and writer whose words give strength to those in distress and instill a sense of peace and contentment to those in search of a higher purpose. Dada’s humanitarian spirit transcends caste, creed, color, and religion. His life reflects the essence of the Bhagavad Gita as well as the Sermon on the Mount. The range and extent of his intellect are truly remarkable; he can speak on such varied topics as life after death to the secrets to leading an exciting life! This year Dada will be guiding his audience through a meditation on a topic that is familiar to everyone: STRESS. In today’s world, there is hardly a person who says they are not stressed by one thing or another. Some are stressed by lack of time while others are stressed by their choices in life. For many, relationships are the cause of much distress, whether it be a spouse, a child, a sibling, or a friend. Health issues are also a challenge, and the irony is that often times these health issues stem from stress itself! The world is in desperate need of some stress relief.

According to Dada and many other spiritual masters, meditation is an effective and essential tool in combating stress and anxiety. Yet many shy away from meditation, thinking of it as difficult or complicated. Dada has a simple approach that he often refers to as P.Q.T (Personal Quiet Time). The easiest way to begin a meditation practice is to spend five minutes every day in silence. As Dada has said “We live in a world of allurements and entanglements. The sharp arrows of desire, craving, animal appetite, of passion and pride, of ignorance and anger, of hatred and greed, wound our souls again and again. Our souls bear the scars of many wounds: they need to be healed. Silence is the great healer. We must take a dip every day in the waters of silence if we wish to be healed, cleansed, ennobled, and strengthened for the daily tasks of life.”

Dada’s guided meditation on relief from stress is the perfect place to experience the calm, relaxation, and renewed focus one regains from time spent enriching the inner self. For those new to meditation, there is nothing better than to be gently guided along by the loving voice and reassuring presence of this special man.
