Divine Wisdom from Michele Livingston

by Michele Livingston

Dear Michele,

I have become very spiritual in the last year or so at a very rapid pace. While in a psychic development class I was told that I would be a "reader" and I was very surprised as I did not expect to hear that. I felt for along time that I am a "regular" person and that I am no one particularly "special" but when I heard this I felt like I had a true purpose (and it made me smile). I can very easily give readings or channel for people I know, but when someone I don’t know asks me a question I get very nervous and I knowingly filter the information that I receive. Do you have any suggestions on how I can just trust what comes to me and not be so nervous about incorrect information?

Blessings to you,

Carman B.

Hi Carman,

It’s wonderful to hear that you have progressed on your spiritual journey and have opened up to the spirit realms. First, though some consider psychic talents a "gift," everyone in the world is somewhat psychic. It’s as simple as thinking of a friend and a minute later the phone rings and it’s that particular friend. Or you may be going home from work and a "feeling" inside encourages you to take a different route. Later you find out that there was a major accident on the road you normally travel and you may have been smack in the middle of it! This is intuition and we all have it, although some people are more aware and in tune with it then others.

Many times these talents follow down one’s generational lines. For example, my maternal great-grandmother was a great visionary. My own mother was very psychic and derived her information from precognitive dreams (pre-knowing), hearing (clairaudience) and her feelings (clairsentience). Although I was always very attuned to energy patterns and saw creative things (as an artist), I never used the "gift" until I reached the age of 40. There’s a saying, "as to whom much is given, much is required." If we receive and recognize these so-called spiritual gifts, we need to be ready to use them wisely for the service of humanity. I feel I personally was not mature or focused enough before a certain age to take on the responsibility of helping others heal through their losses.

Remember, we have all experienced the other side during our formative years (1 to 5). Young children are in a different frequency and can easily tap into the invisible realms because their souls have not been in their bodies for long. We have all seen invisible playmates or guides, angels and the departed in these early years. We merely forget, because around the age of 6 or 7, we go into a different energy frequency and automatically shut out the other realms. This is for our own sanity and protection as we grow older.

To be a pure channel for spirit, one needs to be open, honest and directly relay the information given. The spirit realms have discernment to know what we on earth can handle hearing (God doesn’t give us any more than we can handle!). When I channel I become very childlike in my approach and do not sensor, as if going back to the formative years. I relay exactly what I’m seeing, feeling and hearing. I too, Carman, was shy when I first started this work many years ago. I doubted that the information I received was valid and that it would not be confirmed by my client. A good friend and psychic from England told me to have faith, that I was only the "messenger" to give the information, not the one to judge or analyze it. He also told me that the more I read for people the better I would become. It’s the same concept as a pianist practicing the piano, an artist going to art school or an athlete consistently performing. Practice makes perfect!

I encourage you to say a protective prayer before you start that only information for the client’s highest good comes through. Do not be afraid of other’s approval. It’s now time to be a direct channel for others and to give them valuable information from the other dimensions. You need to start somewhere, so get out of your own way! Know that you are ready, and have now been given a responsibility to help and heal others, so honor that responsibility. I wish you well!

Dear Michele,

My dad was always supportive of me when I was in high school. He came to all of our high school football games when I was a cheerleader. He passed away suddenly last August. Once, before Dad died I asked him to please communicate with me from the other side, and I hoped he would. The day after the funeral, I went back to the cemetery and stood at his grave site. A big yellow and black swallowtail butterfly flew back and forth in front of me and landed on his tombstone. Then it dawned on me that yellow and black were our high school colors! Do you think that was really my dad saying hello?

Jan W.

Hi Jan,

Yes, I feel that was your dad. The departed are capable of sending us messengers in many forms. Winged creatures, such as birds, butterflies or dragonfly’s, are symbols of the soul. Your dad is not the butterfly, but influenced the butterfly to appear. I suggest you plant some butterfly bushes to attract them-–swallowtails especially love the pink coneflowers.

One of the greatest metaphysical symbols of eternal life is the butterfly. The butterfly is a "symbol of the soul." It represents transformation and change. The caterpillar encases itself in its homemade casing (representing the physical body). It is then changed into a beautiful butterfly, to fly free (representing the soul). This is a miraculous transformation. Its hair is changed to scales—a million per square inch; the many legs of the caterpillar become the six of the butterfly; its color changes; and the crawling instinct becomes a flying one. The butterfly personifies the "dancing joy of life."

So Jan, your dad’s swallow tail messenger was saying in essence, "Be happy, for life is for the living!"
