Ask Your Pet

by Jennifer Dickman

Dear Jennifer,

I’m writing to ask about our recently departed furbaby, Mingy. He was our youngest dog, 8 ½. He passed away suddenly due to a recent onset of a heart condition. My mom and I are devastated and feel like we lost him before his time. This was an incredibly difficult loss as he was one of a pack of 4. We feel helpless and lost without him. He was our shining light. I have lost many pets before but this was extremely difficult for us. I was wondering if you can connect with him.
Cindy

Dear Cindy,

I’m very sorry for your loss. It’s always devastating to lose an animal companion, but especially hard when it seems to happen too soon.

Throughout my conversation with Mingy, he kept showing me beautiful images of flowers, as if he was sending them as a gift to you. He initially mentioned the word "buttercup" to me, so I’m hoping this will have some meaning for you or your mother. Mingy described himself as steady, constant, affectionate, and loving, with a very good and loyal heart.

When I spoke to Mingy about the circumstances surrounding his crossing, he said that he had a congenital heart defect. It was like a time bomb waiting to go off. He doesn’t want you to second-guess yourself or the veterinarians; there was nothing anyone could have done. Mingy is very sorry that he caused you such deep pain. He wishes that he could have stayed with you longer, but is at peace with the fact that he crossed over when he did. He had an incredible life with you, and thanks you for giving him so much love and care. You and your mom really made him feel special and appreciated for who he was.

Mingy does plan to return to you at some point, but says that you need to heal from your grief first. He feels that his heart defect was due to breeding, and plans to incarnate as a mixed-breed next time. Mingy is concerned that the grief is particularly bad for your mother, and spoke about her feeling stiff and creaky. He said that sunshine is very good for her.

Mingy said that there’s a special card or picture of him that you put up in your house, and he has seen it and likes it very much. He knows how much you love him and miss him, and sends you love in return.

Mingy is concerned that your other dogs are still missing him. You might want to look into a flower essence formula for grief, and take it yourselves while also giving it to your dogs. There’s a great formula called "Grief and Loss" in the animal wellness collection at www.GreenHopeEssences.com.

Mingy wants you to know that you didn’t do anything wrong and he isn’t "lost". He is with you always, and you will be reunited, either in this world or in Spirit.

Many Blessings,

Jennifer Dickman
