Dear Gail,

I’m so sorry for your loss. Totem wants you to know that she is okay and happy in Spirit. She is with a woman who appears to be elderly and sits in a chair with a blanket over her. She has a thin face, large eyes, an age spot on her face, and her hair is tied back. It is likely that this woman went through a prolonged illness and is having trouble adjusting to the fact that she is out of her body and free of infirmity now. It seems that Totem has been given the gift of providing her with companionship and comfort during this time. This lady may have known Totem in her most recent life or another incarnation, but that isn’t always the case.

Totem visits you and your home frequently, and goes back to the woman as sort of her "home base" in Spirit. She says that she knows you want a sign from her, and is trying hard. There is something brass-colored in your home that dangles, like a medallion or small bell, that she has been trying to move. But, she says she knows you want her to do something dramatic like knock over a flower pot, and that’s just not possible. Instead, she asks that you sit quietly, still your mind, and call to her. With no expectations or pressure, sit and let yourself feel her loving energy surround you. It may take practice, but if you don’t block yourself with pressure and questioning, you’ll soon be able to sense Totem’s loving presence.

Totem is aware of how much you miss her and is sorry she couldn’t stay in her body longer. She wants you to know that she is still there for you. You can talk to her, call to her when you need her, or even ask her to visit with you in your dreams before you go to bed at night. I know it’s not the same as having her there in her physical body, but if you open yourself to the experience you will be able to feel her presence more and shift your experience to one of changed relationship rather than complete loss. Totem wants you to know that her suffering was minimal. She had some mild pain in her upper abdomen and was having difficulty breathing before she crossed over. The difficulty breathing was frightening, and it was a relief to leave her body. Totem thanks you for having the courage and wisdom to help her cross over when you did.
