"What's Love Got To Do With It?"

by Ellie Pechet, MEd

Remember the song by Tina Turner, “What’s love got to do with it?” Well...everything really. Without love in our life, we feel alone, un-supported, disconnected.

We tend to lack a sense of Joy in our lives without meaningful connection to another human being. Our pets help fill the need we all have for connection if we are not currently in an intimate relationship; especially cats and dogs who we can cuddle with. Our pets join us as companions with different purposes and ways of supporting us. Dogs for example, come into our lives to teach us how to love unconditionally and they teach us this every day they are with us.

“The greatest disease in the West today is not TB or leprosy; it is being unwanted, unloved, and uncared for...The only cure for loneliness, despair, and hopelessness is LOVE. There are many in the world who are dying for a piece of bread but there are many more dying for a little love. The poverty in the West is a different kind of poverty — it is not only a poverty of loneliness but also of spirituality.” - Mother Teresa

If you don’t have an intimate, physical connection with another person currently, this is a good opportunity to deepen your connection with your inner self and your higher self. A great way to do this is by recognizing and healing any wounds from the past. Healing incorrect beliefs that you might have been brainwashed into believing is another way to step closer into your authentic self. As you heal, you naturally lean in to loving yourself more deeply and thus increase your ability to deepen your connection with others. Lean in to your healing…You are worthy.

Yes...Love has everything to do with it.
